Tailor-Made Tutoring for Individual Student Success.
From the Heart of Oxfordshire
About Us
Great Scott is run by two serving English teachers with unrivalled experience, GCSE and A Level results and examiner experience.
We have been teaching for 20 years and 15 years respectively with full QTS (Fully Qualified Teacher Status) and have taught in both the Private and State school sectors.
We are both passionate about teaching and pride ourselves on creating outstanding learning experiences in our classrooms on a daily basis. We believe that by offering tailor-made tutoring experiences, we can enhance the confidence of students in our beloved subject of English even further.
Our Aim
Our aim is simple: to create a bespoke tutoring programme for your child based on their prior knowledge, their exam texts and how they work best.
We have been teaching for 20 years and 15 years respectively with full QTS (Fully Qualified Teacher Status) and have taught in both the Private and State school sectors.
We are both examiners and have an unrivalled knowledge of exam requirements and techniques. We are also members of the Oxbridge Interview process that enable students to practice their interview technique prior to being called.
We are qualified to teach;
- KS2 (Y3-Y6) SATS
- KS3 (Y7-Y9) Common Entrance
- KS4 (Y10-Y11) GCSE
- KS5 (Y12-Y13) A Level English Language and A Level English Literature.

Why Great Scott?
Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, tutoring services have become even more widely sought after. This is why we want to make a difference. Some organisations employ students without prior teaching or coaching experience. These tutoring organisations have limited knowledge of the curriculum and often no knowledge of the assessment objectives set by each exam board. These assessment objectives serve as a marker board for student success. We can coach your child to not only be able to navigate these markers but have the confidence to write creatively and accurately under pressure – a skill that is lifelong in duration.

When & Where?
You can choose for us to come to you if you are based within 20 miles of Oxford. Alternatively, you can come to our base just South of Oxford.

We offer a 30 minute ‘taster session’ via Zoom/Teams or face-to-face to evaluate your child’s needs before creating a bespoke programme based on their learning preferences and the course they are studying. You can then decide to take the 2 or 4 week course based on your availability and need.
There could be a possibility of Sunday tutoring based on demand.
